■■■■■ Someone can access posts linked to your Instagram even if you’ve made your account private.
While Instagram, as a Meta product, implements anti-bot measures to prevent scraping, OSINT tools that rely on third-party services such as Apify to actively maintain functional APIs capable of successfully extracting data are becoming increasingly popular. Recent tools often do not include scraping logic in their own code but integrate pre-built scraper APIs to ensure they continue to work.
See a post I did a year ago predicting the rise of services like Apify https://lnkd.in/g85pZnmt
Here’s an updated list of #OSINT tools that allow you to extract data from Instagram profiles:
Apify Instagram Scrapers, https://lnkd.in/g4tkGcin – APIs for scraping Instagram profiles.
Bellingcat Instagram-location-search tool, https://lnkd.in/gx-ZEtq2 – finds Instagram location tags near a specified latitude and longitude allowing for a search for posts and stories tagged in each location. The location of all the location IDs can be projected onto a map.
InstagramPrivSniffer, https://lnkd.in/gWgFAPe5 – scrapes posts from private Instagram profiles when they collaborate with public profiles, allowing to view and download the media.
Toutatis, https://lnkd.in/gbceP7tj – extracts information such as e-mails, phone numbers, and profile pictures from Instagram accounts.
InstaHunt, https://lnkd.in/gCbyC2GQ – finds Instagram posts surrounding a specific location. It can only search by address or by selecting a location on a map; searching by building or place name will not return any results.
Instaloader, https://lnkd.in/gyjQ-uKh – downloads public and private profile user data (posts, stories, captions, comments, and geotags, etc.) and automatically detects profile name changes.
https://lnkd.in/gVqf9Gk2 – a trick to bypass the login prompt when scrolling through an Instagram profile.
Insta-timestamp, https://lnkd.in/g-4dj49K – displays the exact date and time an image, reel, or story was uploaded to Instagram.
Google dork to view private accounts data, https://lnkd.in/gZ4MJgYT
‘I know where your cat lives,’ https://lnkd.in/gQtG6-27 – plots photos from Instagram tagged with “cat” and geolocation coordinates embedded in pictures’ metadata onto a world map. The tool shows how easy it is to access data through photo-sharing platforms and has historical data.
The following tools allow to view public Instagram profiles and download posts, stories, and reels anonymously:
Imginn, https://imginn.com/
Insta-Stories-Viewer, https://lnkd.in/gzfrMtdT
Piokok, https://www.piokok.com/
Dumpor.io, https://dumpor.io/
