■■■□□ Kali Linux has released version 2024.4, introducing 14 new tools, deprecating certain features, and implementing various improvements.

New Tools:

bloodyad: Active Directory privilege escalation framework.

certi: Tool for requesting certificates from Active Directory Certificate Services (ADCS) and discovering templates.

chainsaw: Utility for rapidly searching and analyzing Windows forensic artifacts.

findomain: Fast and comprehensive domain recognition tool.

hexwalk: Hex analyzer, editor, and viewer.

linkedin2username: Generates username lists for companies based on LinkedIn data.

mssqlpwner: Tool for interacting with and exploiting MSSQL servers.

openssh-ssh1: Secure SHell (SSH) client for legacy SSH1 protocol.

proximoth: Detection tool for control frame attack vulnerabilities.

python-pipx: Executes binaries from Python packages in isolated environments.

sara: RouterOS Security Inspector.

web-cache-vulnerability-scanner: CLI tool for testing web cache poisoning vulnerabilities.

xsrfprobe: Advanced Cross-Site Request Forgery (CSRF/XSRF) audit and exploitation toolkit.

zenmap: Front end for the Network Mapper (nmap).

Deprecated Features:

i386 Architecture: Following Debian’s decision to drop support for 32-bit builds, Kali Linux will no longer release i386 images. However, 32-bit programs can still run on x86-64 systems.

SSH DSA Keys: With OpenSSH 9.8p1, SSH DSA keys are deprecated. For legacy systems requiring these keys, the new build includes the SSH1 client, though compatibility with certain tools may be affected.

Other Notable Changes:

Python 3.12: Now the default Python interpreter. Installing packages via pip is disallowed by default to prevent conflicts; users are encouraged to use pipx for package management.

Raspberry Pi Support: Enhanced support through the Raspberry Pi Imager, allowing pre-configuration of settings such as hostname, login credentials, SSH keys, Wi-Fi networks, and locale before writing the image to a microSD card.

Desktop Environment: Includes GNOME 47, offering features like accent color customization, a new system-monitor panel extension, and an updated login theme.
